Canada’s Theory of a Deadman have long since evolved past the Nickelback comparisons that dogged their early output. Their brand of rock stretches and grows with each new album. And our first taste of what’s to come in 2023 finds them evoking the bright, heavy grooves of Royal Blood while frontman Tyler Connolly reminds us that the human race inevitably faces extinction. I hypothesize he’s dancing around climate change much like Chevelle on “Self-Destructor” a few years back. Hiding lyrics about our eventual doom in such a fun-sounding rock song is an impressive skill!
