Ivan Moody Plans Retirement From Metal After Next Five Finger Death Punch Album

Five Finger Death Punch frontman Ivan Moody shared his plans during a concert last week.

Moody invited his children onstage to deliver the news this past Friday at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Watch the video:

“The last 15 years of my life I have toured the world, I have seen every country, every city on this planet at least twice. That’s a fact. And through that time, as many of you parents know. Hard workers. I have missed a lot of time with my kiddos. So I made them a deal today, and I’m going to stick to it. After this year, I am going to make one more Five Finger Death Punch album and then I am retiring from heavy metal.”

Moody has been pretty open about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health, and how those battles have impacted his personal life. Being a good father is clearly important to him and we wish him all the best!

Obviously this retirement plan leads to lots of questions. He says he’s “retiring from heavy metal”. Will this be the end of FFDP or will they continue without him? Will he keep making music, but in a different genre? Maybe he goes country like Aaron Lewis of Staind? What do you think will happen next?
