Will Foo Fighters Taylor Tribute Shows Feature “Nirvana Reunion”?

Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic features in the second wave of guest performers at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts this fall.

A few days after sharing the first wave of guests, Dave Grohl and company have added more! We’ll examine them in a bit, but perhaps most noteworthy among Nirvana devotees is the inclusion of bassist Krist Novoselic. He, drummer Dave Grohl, and In Utero-era addition Pat Smear have reconvened on only a precious handful of occasions since Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994. Does this mean another “Nirvana reunion” event will occur?

Dave, Krist, and Pat most recently performed Nirvana material together at an art gala in 2020 with vocal duties from Annie Clark (St. Vincent), Beck, and Dave’s daughter Violet Grohl. For anyone lucky enough to attend a Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, this would be icing on the cake. But given the incredible array of talent on the Wembley Stadium and Kia Forum stages, fans are in for an incredible show regardless.

Now who else was added to the lineups? Let us examine:

Both Shows
Alain Johannes (multi-instrumentalist with lots of bands)
John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin, Them Crooked Vultures)
Greg Kurstin (producer, Dave Grohl’s Hanukkah Sessions collaborator)
Krist Novoselic (Nirvana)

L.A. only
Pink
LeAnn Rimes
Nancy Wilson (Heart)

London only
Nandi Bushell
Nile Rodgers (legendary producer)
Chris Rock

This second wave of performers means Nirvana might not be the only potential reunion happening, but we’ll dig into other possible collabs in a later blog.
