Dave Grohl Covers Van Halen, Ramones, And More For Hanukkah Sessions

Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin are turning ‘Hanukkah Sessions’ into a fun tradition!

Dave Grohl isn’t Jewish. But his good friend, producer Greg Kurstin, is! And the two of them have teamed up for another round of #HannukahSessions!

The tradition began in 2020 when Grohl and Kurstin covered songs made famous by Jewish artists and released one for each of Hanukkah’s eight nights. Now that they’ve teamed up again, we can only hope Hanukkah Sessions becomes the latest and greatest of Hanukkah Rock traditions. Actually, to be honest, I’m not aware of any other Hanukkah Rock traditions.

Here’s their miraculous work for 2021. There’s some NSFW audio in here btw.

You wanted the best, you got the best! The hottest Jews in rock… Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS!

Mick Jones of The Clash is Jewish? I had no idea.

I always thought Billy Joel was Catholic, but apparently his parents were Jewish! Close enough for Kurstin x Grohl. Come for the vintage pop-rock. Stay for the kazoo solo.

I didn’t know Amy Winehouse was Jewish! Special appearance by Dave Grohl’s very talented daughter Violet.

“David Lee Roth lights the menorah”, Adam Sandler taught us in an early version of “The Hanukkah Song”. So some vintage Roth-era Van Halen makes perfect sense. And “Jump” is perfect for Kurstin’s keyboard expertise.

This Barry Manilow cover would have fit well alongside that EP of Bee Gees covers Foo Fighters released last summer.

Half of the original Ramones were Jewish. Joey and Tommy!

Lisa Loeb is Jewish? News to me. This cover has some fun surprises. Watch your volume.
