Mayor Maynard? Senator Maynard? President Maynard!? We shouldn’t hold our breath for the Tool frontman to enter politics.
A recent Esquire feature covered Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan’s remarkable array of interests – winemaking, agriculture, and of course music. And while Keenan is rarely overtly political on social media, he’s known to share a strong opinion from time to time.
Would he ever run for office, though?
“F—–k no!… No, I bowl with the mayor. He has to play the middle, nod, and figure out what’s best for the community as a whole—listening and separating the squawks from the actual criticisms and compliments. I couldn’t do that. I have a vision and I do what I want to do. I would not be good in that position (chuckles). Off with their heads!!”
Considering how divisive political discourse can be, can’t really blame the guy for wanting to stay away. You can read the full piece here.
Keenan also revealed last month that his wife has been battling cancer for much of the past year. Best wishes to the Keenan fam!
She didn’t act out in any self destructive manner. Instead she asked the right questions, listened to her doctors, made a plan, and stuck to it. And when there were things she couldn’t do on her own, she asked for help. Before the chemo could take her hair, she cut it all off and pic.twitter.com/HPOOciDKKn
