Pearl Jam borrows from early 80’s new wave and post-punk on the first track we’ve heard from their forthcoming album ‘Gigaton’.
Say what you want about new music from Pearl Jam, they’re always moving forward and evolving. And in this case, evolving means reaching back to influences from even before Pearl Jam antecedent Green River. A keyboard melody that evokes early New Order. Eddie Vedder’s voice over jerky Talking Heads rhythms. Sharp, angular guitar stabs characteristic of post-punk. That’s what we’ve got on “Dance of the Clairvoyants”.
“‘Dance’ was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration…We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting.” – Jeff Ament
Gigaton arrives March 27.
