Guitarist John Frusciante Rejoins Red Hot Chili Peppers!

The unsung hero of Red Hot Chili Peppers as far as I’m concerned, RHCP welcomed John Frusciante back into the fold over the weekend!

Anthony Kiedis and Flea generate most of the attention, but I’m not sure this band has the same legacy without guitarist John Frusciante. And over the weekend, the Chilis announced his reunion with the rest of the band!

First of all, super respectful and kind that they led the news with acknowledging Josh Klinghoffer’s departure. Josh was already involved with RHCP as Frusciante’s guitar tech during the 00’s. And he collaborated on Frusciante’s solo material before that.

Now on the surface it’s difficult to know exactly what impact Frusciante had on RHCP’s material because they usually credit songwriting to the whole band. But here’s the list of albums Frusciante recorded with the band:

Mother’s Milk
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
(out of band from ’92 to ’98)
By The Way
Stadium Arcadium
(left band in ’09)

Not to mention his stellar string of solo records during the 00’s. I would put John Frusciante’s output as a songwriter up against pretty much any musician ever. I’m beyond thrilled he’s back in the band, and I can’t wait to hear what impact he has on their forthcoming material.
