Paul Rudd and Finn Wolfhard star in the first official follow-up to the classic 80’s films, which will also feature much of the original cast.
Most of the principal cast from Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 will reportedly appear in the film including surviving Ghostbusters Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson along with co-stars Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts. Although they’re missing from these clips, the trailer mostly serves to establish the new setting and story. But it calls back to the original films in several important ways. Tell me you didn’t get a little excited when the young lady finds a closet full of Egon Spengler’s old uniforms!
While the female-led 2016 Ghostbusters reboot featured some easter eggs, callbacks, and cameos of the original cast, it was not a continuation of the classic 80s films. Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be!
Ghostbusters: Afterlife‘s director and co-writer Jason Reitman is the son of the original Ghostbusters producer/director Ivan Reitman. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 10, 2020.
