Jack White And Jack Black Recorded A Song Together!

Looks like the world will finally get the Jack White and Jack Black collaboration we’ve been screaming for since the early ’00s!

Are you tired of the Jack Grey jokes yet?

At a Tenacious D concert in Nashville over the weekend, Jack Black announced during the encore that the band spent the day working with the former White Stripes frontman. “We went over to his house today and recorded a brand new song,” the actor and singer revealed. The Tennessean reports that Black joked the project, to be released on White’s Third Man Records, should be called “Jack Grey,” with fans able to get a listen really soon.

Jacks Black and White have met before, but a run-in a few months ago at Heathrow Airport in London provided the first photo of the two together. Jack Black’s Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass is also pictured.

Quick recap: Who Are Tenacious D?

Jack Black and Kyle Gass founded comedy-rock duo Tenacious D back in 1994; well before High Fidelity, School Of Rock, Kung Fu Panda, and the many other projects that made Jack Black a household name. An early break came courtesy of Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad) and David Cross (Arrested Development) during the Mr. Show With Bob & David days. A couple HBO episodes led to gigs supporting artists like Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters.

The band is perhaps best known for “Tribute” (below) and the full-length film Tenacious D in The Pick Of Destiny.

Tenacious D performed at KC’s Starlight Theater last month. In the words of Chris Berman: “I know because I was there!”
